NANCY ANN COYNE
Artist and Curator
Nancy Ann Coyne (University of California, Santa Cruz, BA 1993) is a photographer and visual anthropologist. Her work exploring issues of public memory and place has been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the United States, Europe, and the former Soviet Union, and has appeared in numerous publications including: Travel and Leisure; the New Jersey Star-Ledger; the London Guardian; the Prague Post; Der Standard; Die Presse and the Jewish Quarterly.
Ms. Coyne has been a recipient of numerous research grants, artist fellowships, and residencies, including: a Fulbright Fellowship; the Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture Fellowship; a Republic of Georgia Ministry of Culture Fellowship, and an Austrian Chancellory for the Arts Fellowship. In 1997, she was the Koerner Fellow for Holocaust Studies at the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies at Oxford University. Recently, she has been a visiting scholar/artist at the University of California, Berkeley, and Hebrew University, Jerusalem.
WILLIAM F. CONWAY AND MARCY SCHULTE
Design Architects
William F. Conway and Marcy Schulte established their architectural firm in Ames, Iowa, in 1994. Their practice has been recognized for its work in the design of public places. Incorporating elements of art, history, graphic and landscape design, these projects often involve interdisciplinary design approaches. Their project entitled DE-CODE /RE-CODE Atlanta, winner of an international competition for the 1996 Summer Olympic Games, was awarded both a Progressive Architecture and an Iowa State AIA Award.
William F. Conway (Yale University, M.Arch. 1989) has worked in architectural offices in Fargo, Boston, Rome, Italy, and the New Haven office of Cesar Pelli & Associates. The recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship and Winchester Traveling Fellowship, he was a visiting artist at the American Academy in Rome. Mr. Conway is an associate professor of architecture at the University of Minnesota.
Marcy Schulte (Syracuse University, M.Arch. 1987) was a designer with the firm of Cesar Pelli & Associates from 1987 to 1991. Since that time Schulte has paralleled her work in practice with teaching. Her design studios and seminars at the University of Minnesota focus on the inquiry of cultural issues and urban settings in design.
ROBERT SILBERMAN

Robert Silberman is an associate professor of art history at the University of Minnesota, where he regularly teaches a course on the history of photography. He was senior advisor for the 1999 KTCA/PBS series "American Photography: A Century of Images," and co-authored (with Vicki Goldberg) the companion volume of the same title. He was also principal author of the series website, selected as best photography website of the year by Le Monde.
Professor Silberman writes on photography and contemporary art for The Burlington Magazine and other publications. He has been Ansel Adams Research Fellow at the Center for Creative Photography, Tucson; Research Fellow at the Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library; and Scholar in Residence at the Pollock-Krasner House and at the Taos Talking Picture Festival.
